Applying to a PhD at Técnico
PhD candidates can apply to a PhD Programme any time of the year. However, applications are processed at two cut-off dates:
Right before the Spring semester (December to early January)
Right before the Fall semester (June to early July)
After applying to a PhD Programme, the application will be analyzed by the PhD Programme’s Scientific Committee, who will determine if the candidate has the adequate profile to be accepted in the PhD Programme.
Once accepted in the PhD Programme, an official registration in the PhD Programme is needed. For this step, students choose the scientific supervisory team and define the study plan. Once this process is completed, students can enroll in selected PhD courses and start the PhD.

Tuition fees
The tuition fee for doctoral programs in Técnico is currently 2.750,00 Euros per year.
Doctoral students can apply for funding to cover tuition fees and living expenses in several ways. Check alternatives in “Funding Opportunities”.
Welcome services
PhD candidates can receive support and counseling on accommodation services, health insurance, visa and arrival formalities, life at Lisbon, and welcome events through the Admissions Office at Técnico.
